Teenagers... a Party... and JUNK FOOD!

I'm in the home stretch of finishing FOR ONCE, a Sky Cove short story that I intend to offer absolutely FREE! One of the big events that occurs is a surprise birthday party that the heroine, Jessie, throws for her best friend. Naturally, there's pizza, cake, and various other snacks. In the tradition of teenagers and junk food, I've included my recipe for homemade (and slightly healthier) jalapeno poppers. As I wrote the birthday party scene, I pictured these as a part of the spread of food Jessie prepared!

HEALTHIER, HOMEMADE JALAPENO POPPERS

1 pkg Crescent Roll dough
2 fresh jalapeno peppers, sliced thin (use seeds, if desired, for heat!)
1/2 cup shredded cheese (I used Colby Jack, but whatever you prefer would work.)
2 Tablespoons melted butter

Separate crescents and place shredded cheese and sliced jalapeno peppers in the center of the triangle. Use as much or as little as you like, just be sure you can still roll the crescent up! Once all crescents are rolled and placed on a baking sheet, brush or drizzle with melted butter to achieve maximum "brownness". Bake as directed on the package of crescents... about 15 minutes at 375 degrees.

I imagine these would be a big hit at a party full of teenagers! Perhaps you'll try them out at your next get together! They were a hit at my house!

Happy reading and writing!

** I hope you'll check back soon for news about the release of FOR ONCE, where you can meet Jessie and her friends!
