#SnippetSunday - FOR ONCE

I'm back... after a looooooong hiatus! And today I'm sharing a few lines from FOR ONCE, a Sky Cove short story. This story takes place after ONCE AGAIN (book 1), and features Jessie Spencer, science nerd and best friend of Layla Bradford (heroine of ONCE AGAIN). Jessie's got a major crush on Will Harlow, and she's positive he's never going to look her way. But as often happens in Sky Cove, destiny has other ideas!

Grabbing my calculator and closing the locker door, I allowed myself one second to swoon over that moment in my dream where Wills arms had locked around me and Id looked up into his green eyes. Id had a major crush on Will for a long time. A crush which was only made worse by my new friend Laylas relationship with Wills best friend Lucas.
Now I was around Will pretty regularly, since Layla and our group of girls hung around with Lucas and Will and the rest of the cross-country guys.
Will was super-nice, but I knew he didnt notice me. At least not in the way a boy notices a girl.
Scheduled for release later this summer, FOR ONCE will be a "compliment" to the two current Sky Cove novels currently available.  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Welcome back. It's good to see you here again. :) There is a difference in being seen and being seen by a boy in the way they can notice a girl. I got a good feel for her. Nicely done.

  2. As someone who always seemed to have boy friends rather than boyfriends, I can relate!

  3. Awww, you capture her feeling so well. And I definitely want to read on in hopes her crush gets reciprocated! Terrific snippet.

  4. Good show of the difference between having a boy as a friend and a boyfriend. Just a few words, and you said it, while I would need at least a page.

  5. That's going to be hard--being around someone you have a crush on.
    Very nice.

  7. A calculator. Do people still use those? Wow. I feel ancient reading this adorable snippet. But I do recall my first crush, who never saw me either. Well done!
