This week Layla, the heroine from my soon-to-be-released YA novel ONCE AGAIN, is in the school parking lot after her first day at a new high school. She encounters a group of guys, and as sometimes happens, one of them makes an... ahem... inappropriate comment toward her. But never fear, the hero, Lucas, witnesses the incident and takes matters into his own hands. Layla's a bit confounded, since she just me Lucas and he didn't exactly seem thrilled about it. She decides that his "rescue" of her from the not-s0-nice boys is just a coincidence... or is it?
"Congratulations, you just made yourself look like a pig in front of half the school."
Never in my life had anyone defended me like this. The fact that I'd barely met him made it all the more unbelievable. The fact that he was freaking gorgeous made it completely unbelievable.
Then he turned to me.
"Come on," he said, taking my hand and pulling me toward my car.
