Six Sentence Sunday: Once Again

It's been several weeks since I participated in Six Sentence Sunday.  The holidays were super busy and super fun, but it feels good to be back with all of you today!  I recently announced my decision to pursue Indie Publishing, so I'm excited to return to a manuscript I shared from several months ago.  Originally the book was titled "You Again", but has since been retitled "Once Again".  This is my soon-to-be-released debut Young Adult novel.

The following snippet comes from early in the book, when our heroine, Layla, experiences her first vision of her past life.  Of course, at the time, she's unaware of what is happening to her and how it will affect her life in the coming months.  From inside her parents' car, she witnesses a near collision on the beach and is shaken by the disappearance of the woman she has seen running frantically.

I squinted as she kept running toward a rock wall, the forward momentum of our car taking me farther away.  Her form grew smaller and... transparent?

No, of course not.

And then she disappeared, like dust blowing away in the breeze.

My skin warmed as the cold air in the car abated.  I rubbed my eyes, shook my head, and turned back to face the front of the car, thinking it had been a very long day.

Be sure to visit the official Six Sunday site and find lots of other talented authors, or follow on Twitter with #SixSunday!

Happy reading and writing!

  1. Oof. Sounds like a seriously long day. Wonder how she's going to react when she realizes it's way more than just a long day, though. Intriguing 6, Amy. :)

  2. Oh, I love this! Being that age can be tough enough. Having a transparent woman thrown into the mix definitely complicates her present life! Also love the pic you used.
