Six Sentence Sunday: Layla's Fears Confirmed

Welcome back to another edition of "Six Sentence Sunday". Big thanks to those who visited my first two "Six" posts. Your comments are encouraging and helpful. I've enjoyed visiting many of your blogs as well, and reading the snippets of your work!

This Sunday's "Six" continues with Layla and Luke's story, from my completed YA manuscript "You Again". At this point in the story, the two of them have experienced numerous dreams and visions about their past lives together, but so far they've not been "shown" what tragedy actually happened on the beach. Layla has her suspicions, and in the following excerpt, her dream proves her right.

The branches they beat him with were huge, as big around as tree trunks it seemed. Over and over again they hit him, and with each blow I felt a corresponding jolt in my own body, a ripping and tearing through my heart. His face was bloody. His clothes torn. His body battered by their assault.

And when they were done, when he lay there lifeless and broken, they tossed his body into the tide, where it would soon wash away.

Obviously, she wakes up from the dream more than a little shaken, after seeing Lucas - or the previous version of him - murdered on the beach. Will the two of them be able to unravel the mystery of their past in time to keep the same tragedy from happening in their present?
