Six Sentence Sunday: In That Way

Welcome back to another Six Sentence Sunday post.  Thanks to all of you who've visited my previous posts.  Your comments are always appreciated and encouraging!

Today we pick up with Layla and Lucas, the heroine and hero of my completed Young Adult novel "You Again".  In this snippet, they are in the thick of the battle with the evil forces that destroyed them in their past life, and Lucas is more than a little dismayed that the reincarnation drama keeps them from being able to be normal teenagers.  Here, he proposes they take a moment to just "be".

He shoved his hands through his hair and walked back toward the window.  He took a deep breath, shoulders slumping and turned to look at me.  “We’re in the middle of this insane situation, and I feel like I have to hold myself back and not feel what I’m feeling so that we don’t cloud over things or piss off the bad guys... so we can keep our focus.”

Where was he going with all this?

“And I want you to know that I do think of you that way.”  He walked closer, angled his head.  “I mean, in that way.”

On this day... the 10th Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks... as we enjoy one another's Six Sunday posts, let us not forget the tragedy that occurred that day, the people who lost their lives, and those who defend us still, so that people like us can enjoy the wonderful lives that we do.  Never forget.

  6. Typing this while flying the flag from my deck railing and watching/listening to a flock of motorcycles roaring by on the coast road does remind me of the significance of September 11th--freedom worth fighting for. Beautiful portrayal of teenage yearning, tender six!
