Friday 56: SLAUGHTERHOUSE FIVE by Kurt Vonnegut

It's been a while since my last Friday 56. Real life and all that goes with it sometimes keeps me away. Glad to be back today... and with something totally different than any 56 I've done before.

I read a lot of Young Adult fiction, and a lot of romance fiction. A week or so ago, I challenged myself to step out of my normal reading habits. The result? "Slaughterhouse Five", by Kurt Vonnegut.

The story centers around Billy Pilgrim, an American soldier who experiences the horrific bombing of Dresden... as well, as a journey "through" various times in his life.

Here's the gist:
- Grab the book nearest you.
- Turn to page 56
- Choose a line or two to share.
- No Spoilers!

I'm only about a quarter of the way through the book, so I had to flip ahead to get to page 56. Here goes!

"The Germans carried the corpse out.
The corpse was Wild Bob. So it goes."
Hopefully after work I can grab a few minutes of reading time, so I can read up to this point and see what Wild Bob's corpse is all about!

If you enjoy the Friday 56, leave a comment! If you do your own 56, comment and include your link, and I'll be sure to visit yours!

Enjoy the weekend, folks!

  1. Definitely not a book I've ever read before. I've not read much outside of romance and I doubt I ever will. haha I'm a sucker for a great love story.

Good luck finding out what happens to Wild Bob's corpse. And thanks for visiting my Friday 56.
