`Tis the Season

For me, the holidays begin at Thanksgiving. No, I don't skip over Thanksgiving and go right to Christmas; it's just that in my mind, it's all sort of rolled into one. The feelings inspired inside me by Thanksgiving and Christmas really cannot be separated.

To say I am thankful for the blessings in my life would be an understatement. They are vast and varied and would take far too long to mention here! I am grateful for them every day. But during Thanksgiving, when my gratitude is the focus of much reflecting, I'm not only thankful, but concious of the reason I have been so blessed.

Which is exactly how and why Christmas gets "rolled" in with Thanksgiving. Every wonderful part of my life... even that parts that are messy and chaotic and difficult and stressful... has been given to me by the One we celebrate at Christmas. I would have none of these blessings - nor would I have the ability or capacity to fully appreciate and enjoy them - were it not for Him.

So you see, Thanksgiving and Christmas, they just "go together". It's an attitude I try to have all year long.

Merry Christmas everyone! May it be a blessed and wonderful season for you and your families!

  1. It's a wonderful time of year, and even if all I hear at the day job is assessments and test scores, I smile all through this season because my heart is so light. It doesn't hurt that my own children and husband love this holiday so much too! Happy Holidays!
