Quotable Discussions: Garrison Keillor

FINALLY I am back with another post for "Quotable Discussions"! I hope you'll stop by, hang around a bit, and take part in a discussion about today's quote.

"A book is a gift you can open again and again." ~ Garrison Keillor

Many of you may recognize Garrison Keillor as the host of "A Prairie Home Companion", a well-known and highly successful public radio show. In addition to being a funny, entertaining radio host, he's also an author and storyteller.

I love what he has to say about books in this quote. And it's so true. How many of us have "keeper" books? Those books we return to over and over... reading them through multiple times... turning to favorite passages for a quick pick-me-up... finding encouragement from the familiar, beloved words.

A book really is a gift that you can continue to open... over and over and over again.

I look forward to your thoughts.

  1. Keepers: To Kill A Mockingbird, The Harry Potters, Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, anything by Kresley Cole (lately), and early on, anything by Johanna Lindsey or Julie Garwood.

Of course, my shelves (very plural) have way more than these books on them, but these are the ones that I'll admit to.
