Friday 56: FORGET YOU by Jennifer Echols

It's been several weeks since I've been able to hop on the Friday 56 train! Real life... ugh! But today, I'm back! YIPPEE!

Before I get into my book for the day, here's the gist:

Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
* Turn to page 56.
* Post a sentence from that page (plus one or two others if you like) along with these instructions on your blog. Or (if you do not have your own blog, you can leave it in the comments of this blog.)
* Don't dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

Lately, I've been looking through the bag of about 15 books I brought home from RWA National Conference. I could've come home with a bazillion more, what with all the freebies there were to be had, but I tried to limit myself so that I could get all my books home on the plane, in my carry-on and my checked bag. Unlike my roommate who stood in line for an hour to ship an entire box of books home via FedEx!

So... today's Friday 56 comes from one of those books... a young adult novel called Forget You by Jennifer Echols. I haven't read it yet, but the cover is beautiful, and Romantic Times describes Echols as "a tremendously talented writer with a real gift for developing relationships". Sounds like a good read. I'm looking forward to reading about the journey Zoey, Brandon, and Doug take!

From the back of the book:
"Why can't you choose what you forget...
and what you remember?"

Intriguing! I'll let you all know what I think once I've finished reading it.

From page 56: (immediately following a car accident)
"Doug sucked in a slow breath through his teeth and let it out just as slowly. At first I thought he was doing a deep breathing exercise we'd learned on the swim team, and I was going to joke that we didn't have nearly enough water for swimming, even with all this rain. As I opened my mouth to murmur against his chest, I heard the shudder in his exhalation."

The Friday 56 is hosted by Storytime with Tonya and Friends. Hop on over there for more Friday 56 action! And if you host your own Friday 56, be sure and leave me a comment here so I can come take a look at yours! Happy Friday 56 Blog-Hopping everyone!

  2. Oooh, the way she says, 'At first I thought' I'm now REALLY worried about Doug.

    Sounds like a cool book. Can't wait to hear what you think about it.

    My blog all week has been about Stephen J. Cannell and the 56 is no different!
