Here's the gist:
* The Friday 56 is hosted by Storytime with Tonya and Friends.
* Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
* Turn to page 56.
* Post any sentence from that page (plus one or two others if you like) along with these instructions on your blog. (If you do not have your own blog, post it in the comments section of this blog.) Be sure and let me know with a comment if you've put the Friday 56 on your blog, so I can stop by and comment!
* Don't dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.
The book I grabbed this week is not (gasp!) a young adult novel. There are 10 or so books laying on my table, and today's closest one was "Lover Avenged" by J.R. Ward. It's book #7 in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. As I read books 1 - 6, I remember wondering, "How is she going to make me like Rehvenge?" If you've read the books, you know what I mean! But then book #7 came along, and sure enough, I loved him. Way more than I thought I would. All of Ward's books are spectacular, as are her contemporary romances written under the name Jessica Bird. In fact, her "Irresistible Bachelor" is still one of my very favorite books of all time!
From page 56:
"So the sable coats were not just flash cash laid down by a nouveau riche climber. Rehvenge was from where Ehlena and her family used to belong, the glymera - the highest level of vampire civilian society, the arbiters of taste, the bastion of civility... and the cruelest enclave of know-it-alls on the planet, capable of making Manhattan muggers look like people you'd rather have in for dinner."
